Highlights of the
2010 Age Group
Nationals

submitted by Murray Drudge
July 2010

Team NYAC placed 12th which is our best ever team placing at Age Group Nationals. 11 of the 18 swimmers from three different NYAC training groups scored points. On the 3rd night of competition NYAC swimmers won gold in 5 events and captured special recognition from Swimming Canada. And, at this meet alone, NYAC swimmers achieved 20 personal best times, 9 new club records and one provincial record.

Many thanks to our assisstant coaches, John Calnan and Sabrina Ng, and a
huge note of appreciation for our managers, Olga Macel and Linda Liberta, who
went way beyond the call of duty supporting our swimmers away from home.

In closing, I would like to commend all our swimmers for their standout behaviour at
the pool and hotel. Their performance and support for each other were noticed by many in the swim community and is something to be proud of.

We should all take note and let this example carry over into our day to day relationships with each other to foster a strong team dynamic built on respect and support for one another. This is how great teams come to be.
