Season Wrap Up -
Season Welcome

September 2008

Murray Drudge
The 2008 long course season finished with some standout performances for NYAC swimmers.

Julia Wilkinson
NYAC is proud to have Julia Wilkinson represent this club with her four Gold medals and Canadian record for the 50 Back (28.53) at the 2008 Nationals in Winnipeg, and her seventh place finish in the 200 IM at the Beijing Olympics. These performances are outstanding, as four years earlier she was still only top eight at our Trials. In Beijing she swam a new Canadian record for both the 200 IM (2:12.03) and the 100 Back (1:00.38). It's amazing what four short years can do for improvement.

Michelle Williams
Michelle Williams made her first National Team with her 100 Free (56.89) at the 2008 Nationals in Winnipeg. She will compete at the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Guam, a small island in the South Pacific, in January 2009. In Calgary at the 2008 Age Group Nationals she won the 50 Free with a blistering 26.26, the 100 Fly (1:02:04), and the 100 Back (1:05:84) - out of lane 1! She got silver for the 100 Free (57.37).

Kyungsoo Yoon went top 16 in Winnipeg and finished #1 in TAG for the mens 15-17 category in the 50 Free (23:65). Caitlin Hodge, Nathaniel Hu, Katy Martin, Alex Mierzynski and Nathalin Moy were all big finalists at Age Group Nationals in Calgary and show great hope for the future of NYAC.

Well done all of you and make the experience count for this year.

Welcome back everyone and swim fast this season.
