Message

July 2009

Natalie Lychy
NYAC President

Dear NYAC Parents:

First of all a big congratulations to our athletes who represented NYAC at the 2009 Junior Provincial Long Course Championships in London! Well done! It was an exciting four days of swimming and a pleasure to see so many of you have personal bests, medal finishes and achievements as relay teams. Congratulations to all of our coaches for preparing our swimmers so well and for their dedication throughout the year.

I would also like to wish our athletes competing in the World Championship Trials and Age Group Nationals in Montreal over the next two weeks the best of luck! We will be cheering for you! Go Julia, Michelle, Kyungsoon "The Rocket", and Caitlin! Go Katie, Casey, Caitlin, Jocelyn, Connie, Nathalin, Samantha, Youn Ho, Roland, Alexander J., Alex H., Alex M., Nathaniel, Mackenzie, Razvan, Kyle, and Jeffrey!

NYAC would also like to wish the best of luck in their future endeavours to our well loved Youth Coach Steve Downs, and to our Triathlete Coach, Adam Johnston. We will miss you very much and please keep in touch!

We are currently looking for nominations for our Volunteer of the Year Award for this past swim season. If you would like to nominate someone in the club, please email Hung Fui Lui at Hungfui.lui@gmail.com . This is an award given to an individual in the club who has contributed as a volunteer and who is deserving of special recognition. The recipient is announced at our Banquet in the fall and presented with the Peter Cooling Volunteer of the Year Award.

Our planning for NYAC's 2009-2010 swim season is underway. I will reiterate that coaches will inform parents and swimmers of group placement for the fall either in person, by phone or by email. In July, a letter will also be mailed to each swimmer regarding their placement. It is our goal to include with this letter not only the group, but the training schedule of that group in this letter. Please be patient with us, as we are introducing some NEW POOLS and NEW PROGRAMMING for our swimmers and we want to make sure we provide our members with good pool locations, great coaching and excellence in our programming.

The club's training model and schedule for the 2009-2010 season will also be posted on our website in addition to our Annual Calendar. The registration of your swimmer should be sent in to our mailing address or dropped off at the office during the summer. A package will be mailed to your home, and we will also post registration information on our website. Please pay attention to the information in this package, as registration for returning members is processed on a "first come, first served" basis. There will not be registration available for returning members at the Barbeque.

Once again, congratulations on a fantastic 2008-2009 season and we hope to see you back next fall!

Sincerely,

Natalie Lychy
NYAC President
