The Purpose

The Brantford Aquatic Club is committed to inspire every person in its organization by providing opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and values necessary for each individual to become a capable concerned participant in the swimming community. 

Behavioural Expectations 

Appropriate behaviour allows everyone the rights to learn, to be safe and to be treated with respect, courtesy and consideration.  Consequently, appropriate behaviour with in the Brantford Aquatic Club is mandatory.  Each person is responsible for his/her behaviour and is capable of making appropriated choices.  It is therefore the responsibility of coaches, parents and others to encourage and enforce appropriate behaviour and good decision making.

Code of Conduct

Rights and Responsibilities 

Swimmers have the right to

·        Be treated with respect and consideration

·        Feel safe in a caring environment

·        A high quality swim program which takes into account their individual strengths and needs

·        Express their ideas and opinions respectfully

Swimmers have the responsibility to

·        Treat others with consideration and fairness while respecting their rights and feelings

·        Help establish a clean, safe environment by caring for all personal and club property

·        Demonstrate positive attitudes toward learning

·        Participate actively in all aspects of their swim program

·        Report all violations of the Code of Conduct to an authority figure( coach, parent, senior swimmer, board member) 

Parents have the right to

·        Be treated with respect and consideration

·        Be informed of their child’s progress and be notified of any behaviour concerns

·        Have their child swim in a safe, friendly environment which builds self-esteem and a sense of belonging

Parents have the responsibility to

·        Discuss and assist their child in understanding this Code of Conduct

·        Encourage their child to respect the rights and feeling of others

·        Play and active part in their child’s swimming

·        Be in regular contact with their child’s coach

·        Report all violations of the Code of Conduct to the coach or board member

Swim staff have the right to

·        Be treated with respect and consideration

·        Work in a safe non-threatening environment

·        Expect swimmers to participate and be involved in a productive manner

Swim staff have the responsibility to

·        Provide the best swim program possible, accommodating individual swimmers needs

·        Created and maintain order in a safe, nurturing environment

·        Deal with swimmers, parents, and peers in a fair and positive manner

·        Communicate, on a regular basis, with parents regarding each child’s program and progress

·        Report all violations of the Code of Conduct to the Head Coach who will liase with the Personnel Chair 

Dear Parents,

The Branford Aquatic Club has established a Code of Conduct for its swimmers, coaches, and parents.  This code takes on the format of Rights and Responsibilities.

Please take this opportunity to review this with your swimmer, have them as well as yourselves sign it, and return it to your child’s coach or a registrar.   It will then be kept on file. 

If you have any questions regarding this ‘Code’, please contact a board member or your child’s coach and we will be pleased to further discuss the matter.
