From the President
To the
parents of the GAC,
Thank
you for your patience if you have been waiting to hear from me. Thus
far it has been a busy two weeks for me since the changes in the GAC have come
about. Who knew there was so much to learn! I have had several
conversations with parents on an informal basis about communication from the
Board of Directors to the families and through these conversations we have come
to realize that perhaps some changes are necessary. It seems that parent
representation to the Board of Directors is what is needed.
At
this time we would like to suggest that we hold a meeting where all parents are
invited and that these parents will collectively choose from among those
present, a representative from each group (Bronze, Silver, Gold I, Gold II
and Platinum). This representative will facilitate (by e-mail or
phone) information to the membership. This will allow the flow of
information, or answers to questions you may have between parents and
the Board of Directors as needed. At this meeting we would also like to
invite the parents to choose a parent representative who would sit at the Board
of Directors meetings (as a non-voting member) and report back to the group
representatives, who would in turn inform the parents.
As you
can all imagine I cannot handle 50 phone calls in a day, but this structure
will get the answers to questions parents may have.
A room
has been reserved for this gathering at the Goulbourn Township offices for 7:00
p.m. on February 23rd, 2006. The location is on Huntley Road
across from the Goulbourn Middle School.
Two
positions already volunteered to are: Meet Manager – Carole
Houde
Carole
will run the GAC Annual Swim Meet , Team Manager – Joanne Paquet .Joanne will
be in charge of booking hotels and transportation and putting together meet
packages for out of town meets. The GAC would also like to see some other
important positions taken up. These positions include: Social
Co-ordinators: two people could work together with a committee and
host our end of year picnic (I will volunteer my cottage as the venue!), the
Christmas party and any other get together excuses.

COACHES
REPORT
Last
Saturday we had our dual meet it was successful with all that attended having a
great time is was as we planned a fun meet with pizza at the end of the meet.
This
weekend is the GO meet Friday warm up is at 4:00pm Please be at the pool by 3:45pm
remember this meet is at the Nepean Sportsplex.
Next
week Platinum and Gold1 start a new dryland program this a
great addition to our program and gives our kids the opportunity to have a
great dryland program without giving up any pool time.
It will
be run on Monday from 5:00 to 5:30pm and Saturday from 7:30 to 8:00am so bring your
dryland gear on both of these days.
All
swimmers that moved up in their groups are adjusting well to their new
challenges in these programs great job guys.

The Splash is
distributed each Wednesday by e-mail. The newsletter is the GAC's main form of
communication with each family. Important notices and practice
changes/cancellations are announced here. Hard copies are available in
the GAC mailbox at the pool. Please communicate any changes to the SPLASH
e-mail address you provided at registration, as soon as possible. This
same address is used to communicate important messages (unexpected
practice/meet itinerary changes, cancellations, etc.)
If you have not
received your newsletter by 5:00pm on Thursday:
1.
Verify that
your Inbox has enough space/that your newsletter didn’t bounce.
2.
Since you receive
