Group 1 GO Kingfish Blowout Meet Report
Our
third GO Kingfish swim meet of the year brought yet another 'Blowout' success for
GAC's athletes! A very well run meet by Peter Champagne with short,
efficiently run sessions! Thanks to coach Liliana for taking care of the 12 and
under swimmers in the morning session!
Silver
Highlights: Katie MacKinnon started the weekend with a splash in her Regional
qualifying 50 and 100 Freestyle, congratulations! Alex Lightbody had
great swims including his 50 Fly where he dropped off 2 whole seconds! Ben
Roberts swam the first 400 free of the year like a champ, and improved on every
swim by a great amount! Tim Holland destroyed his old times, as usual, and will
continue to do so for a while yet! Justin "The Tank" Elchakieh plowed
through his events giving the usual 500%, notably his Breaststroke swims with
much improved technique! Kristen Richardson's positive attitude allowed her to
defeat her old 200 Breaststroke time, great effort! J.P. Moquin continued to
shave off seconds even though he was sick for an entire week! And last but
surely not least, Nicholas Lightbody had a fantastic 100 Breaststroke swim on
Saturday, many seconds dropped! This concludes our short course season, lets get ready for long course.
Well
done GAC! See you in practice!

Group 2 GO Kingfish Blowout Meet Report
The Kingfish
Blowout Invitational swim meet proved that our kids have become stronger and
faster, improving their techniques and speed. Everyone achieved personal best
times with many achieving regional times.
Alanna
Brunskill swam to 2 regional times, in 50 free and 50 fly.
Joey
Coakeley swam to a new regional time in the 50 back.
Kelsey
Drysdale swam faster in all her events and it is now very close to achieving
regional times.
Marguerite
Moquin improved in most of her strokes and is also close to regional time
standards.
Emmie
Page became more confident in her strength and improved the times in all her
events and will also soon be swimming regional times.
Cameron
Saunders did a regional time in 50 freestyle and is
continuing to improve in all strokes.
Reegan
Smart swam faster in all her events and continues to improve her technique.
Katie
MacKinnon competed in both days of the event and clocked a regional time in 50 freestyle.
These
great results are proving that our Silver group is stronger, swims faster and
with better technique every time out. The swimmers are more confident and
showed great team spirit cheering on their teammates and friends.
Congratulations
to all of our kids, great job last weekend.
Our
next step is to work on endurance, speed and turns and continue to get more
great results like these!

Parents Meeting Update
I wanted to have the opportunity to thank
all of the parents that came out to the parent communication meeting last
week. There were many interesting questions that parents have had and
were asking. The Board of Directors will endeavor to answer all of your
questions as information becomes available. We are pleased to let you
know that we now have in place a parent communication representative from each
of the groups as follows:
Bronze
Johanne Rioux (270-9200)
Silver
Linda Lightbody (254-7372) casa_lightbody@mac.com
Gold
Debra Barker (591-3637)
Platinum
Bev Brodmann (271-9706)
We did
not have a representative at the meeting from Gold II that was able to take on
this position. If any one from the Gold II group would like to volunteer
to act as a communication representative please call me at (831-6332) and we
would sincerely appreciate your involvement. The parent representatives
may be more aware than the Board of Directors of any questions and concerns
that parents from these groups may have. It is our hope that this
structure will better serve to answer to the concerns of the parents should any
arise.
The
parents at the meeting appointed from amoung them, a representative to sit at
Board meetings. This appointment was Joseph Elchakieh who has two boys in
our programs. Thank you Joseph for accepting this important role.
Other
positions filled were:
Registrar
Susan Coakeley
Johanne Rioux
Assistants
to the Registrar Jasmine Messier
Bev Brodmann
Debra Barker
Social
Committee (year end picnic) Monique Delfino
Assistants
to the Meet Manager Jasmine
Messier
Debra Barker
Bev Brodmann
I
would like to say on behalf of the Board of Directors thank you to all of the
parent volunteers. The Goulbourn Aquatic Club can only be as strong as
its membership and this is a great start.
One
last note, starting next week the SPLASH will be available (with archives) on
the website instead of e-mailing to your homes. This will make access
easier and more timely. The website address is csca.org/gac. Keep watching the SPLASH for more
updates!
Congratulations
to our swimmers for a great effort at EOSA Championships and last weekends
Kingfish Blowout. What a super effort!
Sincerely,
Kathy

TEAM EQUIPMENT
In
stock team equipment can be purchased by contacting Sheri
by phone, e-mail, or at the pool on Saturday mornings from
7:30-8:30am. We currently have polyester suits and custom team bags in
stock as well as two second had team jackets size 10-12 and 14-16. Please
contact Sheri at 836-8235 or e-mail at s_coughlan@sympatico.ca
Parents
may have noticed that the GAC caps and Team Suits are fading quickly,
this is due to high chlorine levels as well as daily use. The caps are
latex and will eventually break down, therefore it is suggested that swimmers
keep their Team Caps and Suits solely for swim meet use and purchase training
suits and caps for daily use. It is also a good idea to have an extra GAC
cap on hand at meets in case of rips and tears.
