Update from the Board of Directors

Hello to all, we hope everyone had a safe and happy March Break. Thank you for your continued patience as we learn our roles in the operation of the club.  We are making great progress but, if there is an issue that you feel needs immediate attention, please do not hesitate to call our communications representatives (March 4th Splash) or Kathy White (831-6332).

Thanks go out to Joseph Elchakieh, our parent representative, who attended the Board of Directors recent program meeting.  Joseph had some welcome insight into some of the decisions that are to be made and we look forward to his continued involvement.

Please let me take this opportunity to also thank all of the parents who have offered their support and especially to those that have already picked up key roles and are active in them.   Rejean Paquet – website (and wrestling with our general computer ineptness), Johanne Fauvelle – team manager, Susan Coakeley – registrar and Eugene Brumar – office computer back up and maintenance, to name a few.  I would also be remiss if I did not thank the coaches for their patience and support as we do our best to support them.

There is much excitement on deck this week as we have a record attendance of 23 swimmers preparing for the upcoming meet at the Olympic facility in Montreal.  Those who are unable to go to Montreal are gearing up for the OYO meet in Ottawa.  Go GAC!

That’s all for now, have a great week everyone!

TEAM EQUIPMENT

In stock team equipment can be purchased by contacting Sheri  by phone, e-mail, or at the pool on Saturday mornings from 7:30-8:30am.  We currently have polyester suits and custom team bags in stock as well as two second had team jackets size 10-12 and 14-16.  Please contact Sheri at 836-8235 or e-mail at s_coughlan@sympatico.ca

Parents may have noticed that the GAC caps and Team Suits are fading quickly, this is due to high chlorine levels as well as daily use.  The caps are latex and will eventually break down, therefore it is suggested that swimmers keep their Team Caps and Suits solely for swim meet use and purchase training suits and caps for daily use.  It is also a good idea to have an extra GAC cap on hand at meets in case of rips and tears.
