Coaching Staff for 2007 - 2008

Don and Kendra are entering their 9th year with the Marlins. Many of our precompetitive swim coaches will be returning to coach for the 2007 - 2008! Our coaches provide a well rounded program with long term athlete developement in mind.  Our team approach, individual attention and our coaching continuity has shown its merit with outstanding results.  Last year, we placed 5th at Team Champs, 15th at Short Course Provincials, 3rd at Junior Provincial Championships in Open Water lifesaving, and at Club Nationals we placed a member of the club onto the Youth Canadian National team. The athletes of the Guelph Marlins broke numerous club records in all age groups including masters. Some of these records were over 20 years old!

The future looks great for the Marlins, so get ready for a great ride in 2007 - 2008!

His athletes have produced national records in all four stroke disciplines at distances from 50 to 200 meters and have represented Canada internationally in all four strokes. Two have achieved the medal podium at the Olympic Games ( 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze ) and 3 have medalled and placed in finals at Commonwealths, Pan American Games, Pan Pacific and World Championships. Over his years of coaching Paul has had the pleasure of working with 12 Olympians at some point in either their agegroup or senior careers. Melissa Lennie
This will be my first year as the Coordinator of Swim School and I am looking forward to getting to know and meet all the new swimmers and their families.  As well, I hope to make your experience with the Marlins the best it can be.

I am a recent graduate from the University of Guelph, with a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Child, Youth, and Family.  I have been with the club since 1997.  I swam competitively with the club for seven years.  During that time I “saw the light” and I went to two Lifesaving National meets.  While I swam I also started coaching for the club and have been coaching for roughly seven years, maybe eight (really I have lost count).  I have my NLS qualifications, as well as my NCCP Level 1 coach.  Currently I am working towards going to graduate school, possibly either Child Life or Teachers College.
