It is the end of short course season which means we all get a well deserved March Break! So
much has been going on in our club this year that warrants recognition. NYAC swimmers have
been achieving goals in all levels of the program, many realizing new possibilities within their
reach. Of course the dedication and determination of the swimmers is to be celebrated; so, too,
is the outstanding effort of the NYAC coaching staff. NYAC coaches continue to push, sup-
port, and teach swimmers what it takes to be the best they can be in the pool. The wonderful
side effect is what our swimmers learn about themselves and the possibilities outside of the
pool.
The coaching staff will no doubt list the competition achievements of our swimmers in this
newsletter. I would like to compliment our members on the other NYAC achievements so far.
We have run a tremendously successful meet (Youth Cup/Mega City) and have enjoyed our
Red, White and Black fun meet (along with the outstanding breakfast that followed). We have
raised funds for the club in various ways from cookie dough sales to Shop and Support and
Loblaws Gift Cards. Several groups have enjoyed social outings. Our volunteers contribute to
what continues to make NYAC a great club.
The Long Course season will also be filled with activities beyond swim training and competi-
tion. April 14 is Swim-a-thon; long swim for a good cause rewarded with a filling breakfast!
Next is the NYAC hosted May LC Performance Meet on May 12-13. The second Red, White
and Black fun meet is scheduled on May 26. Macmillan cookie dough (and other goodies)
forms are due on May 7 with pick up scheduled conveniently on the R/W/B meet day. Finally,
June 23-24 is Mayor's Cup, our last NYAC hosted meet of the season. I look forward to seeing
our members out at all these events!
Special thanks to our Board of Directors who work hard mostly behind the scenes to manage
the clubs activities and put the extras in place. Thanks to Olga who continues to run everything
so smoothly in the office. Thanks to all members who support the club activities and programs.
I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful March Break!
