Rebecca Chud is a true success story. After an outstanding career in the 12
and under age category, including winning the individual high point
awards at Team Champs and Provincials, Rebecca faced a devastating
obstacle which could have easily stopped the career of another lesser ath-
lete. Rebecca tore her rotator cuff and had to undergo surgery followed by
many months of recovery and physiotherapy.
But throughout her recovery phase Rebecca stayed motivated
and even made appearances at meets to cheer on all of her
NYAC teammates. If you've ever been at a swim meet with
NYAC, chances are you've heard Rebecca screaming at the
top of her lungs.
Rebecca is a model athlete to look up to when you're in the
trough. Her story reminds everyone to always believe in
yourself, and know that you're better than you think you are.
Congrats Rebecca and keep
up the good work!
Just keep
swimming!!

time in 200 fly, her best event.
Later in the season, she
showed great initiative in try-
ing to improve her breast-
stroke for the 400 IM at Cen-
tral Regions. With Murray's
help, she dropped loads of
time and won the event. Next,
at Provincials, Rebecca took
more than two seconds off her
best time in 100 fly, finally
breaking 1.10 and achieving a
top 8 swim of 1.07.98. In the
200 fly, Rebecca shattered her
best time by more than four
seconds and became NYAC's
newest Eastern National
qualifier. She swam a smokin'
fast time of 2.28.02.
After struggling somewhat
throughout the 05-06 swim-
ming year in training and
meets, Rebecca came storm-
ing back with a strong desire
to excel in the short course
season of 06-07. Her first big
breakthrough since her shoul-
der surgery was at Youth Cup
in December of 2006 when
she equaled her personal best
