Downtown
Sprint Meet
NYAC's Senior group kicked off the season with a sprint
meet at University of Toronto hosted by TSC. Witnessing some seriously fast swims
from the UofT varsity squad must have given a boost of confidence to our swimmers
as personal best times were swam by over half of the group in their first competition
and only five weeks into their training schedule.
Harvest/Autumn
InvitationalWhile
the swimmers were dealing with the stresses of illness and school they still trained
very well throughout the month of October and into November for the 3-day meet
at the Etobicoke Olympium. The Harvest/Autumn Invitational hosted by MSSAC again
proved to be an exciting and challenging weekend for the Senior group with a larger
stable of athletes to compete against. Top 3 finishes were happily achieved by
Andrea, Janice, Evelin, Ariella, Dong, Brandon, Chris, Furkan, Emre, Ozzy, James
and Matt. Danny gets a special mention in his first seasson with NYAC for placing
first in all but one event: 1st - 50 Free, 100 Free,
200 Back, 50 Breast, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM and 3rd in the 200 Free.
Mega
City / Youth Cup
NYAC's
very own Mega City, which was run concurrently with Youth Cup, proved just as
exciting for the Senior Group with top 3 finishes by Danny, Brandon, Matthew,
Andrea, Sierra, Dong, Evelin and Kevin. The boys 15-17 200 Freestyle relay comprising
of James Allen 27.27 (17), Brandon Linaksita 26:53 (15), Chris Yan 26.92 (15)
and Kevin Huang 27.95 (15) proved very exciting with a commanding win over TSC
and MSSAC in a time of 1:47.97. The splits were all personal bests for these guys.
Ronald Lam made his Senior Provincial cut in the 100 Breast at Youth Cup with
a time of 1:12.34 (a drop of over :08 from last season's personal best) which
allows him to race at the Ontario Cup at University of Toronto in January. This
should prove an exciting weekend for Ronald and the rest of NYAC's Senior Provincial
swimmers.
