Well, we
did it.
It was a little too early on a Saturday morning
for some
of us.
But the clinics, and the time trial, came and went.
NYAC is now equipped and ready to take on the first ever, significant,
hosted meet of the year - the all times favourite Mega City/Youth
Cup meet - which is going to be held in December 2005.
Congratulations
to all the parents who attended the clinics today.
You are now a qualified meet official!
Hope
you have had a chance to do some timing, some improper swim
DQ'ing (disqualifying), the feel of splashed chlorine water
on your clothing, and of course, a taste of the "upclose
and personal" deck experience with your child.
In any case, I trust that you can now appreciate more the sport
that your child is involved in and the ins and outs of a swim
meet (well, simulated). And in turn, this will enhance your
support role as a swim parent and the becoming of your child's
biggest swim fan.
Like everything
else, for an event to run smoothly, a great many help is required.
We were very fortunate to have many parents who generously and
readily volunteered their help this morning.
A heartfelt "thank you" goes to all the parents who
helped at the clinics and the time trial, and to all the pool
reps who worked tirelessly in the previous weeks signing up
the parents in their respective groups for this event.
Thank you
for your time, effort, energy, enthusiasm, and support!
My sincere thanks go to Marjie, Lui, Beatrix, Eleonora, Taft,
Vivian, Cheryl, and last but not least, Olga from NYAC office
for ensuring that the event went smoothly today (if I've missed
anyone, I beg for your forgiveness).
And my very special thanks go to our Senior Officials from Swim
Ontario, John and Tina, for their time, training, and help in
the clinics & time trial.
As we are
getting an extra hour of sleep this weekend. I hope that you'll
all take advantage of the hour and enjoy your beauty sleep
until
we meet again at Mega City & Youth Cup!
Just a side
note, if you did not have your personal training record aka
Officials Certification Card signed by John or Tina today, you
can bring it to Mega City/Youth Cup and have it signed off by
the meet referee at the end of the session then. Your qualification(s)
with Swim Ontario stays for you forever.
As for the
SNC Officials pins, NYAC will be ordering them and distribute
to you when they are available.
Best regards,
Yvonne Moy
