Provincials in London is the premiere event for 17-under swimming in Ontario.
Points are awarded to top 8 swimmers only, which means any athlete earning points
are among the best in the province. Results are getting consistently faster with
an increasing number of swimmers in the meet overall. Look for harder standards
next year. The
Provincial format designates single age groups, placing great emphasis on top
8 swims only. Our swimmers should know that getting a qualifying time means you
get to take part in the meet. The average number of people who actually score
are somewhere in the range of 10-15% of the total number. NYAC sent 29 swimmers
and we had 13 swimmers scoring. This is very good as we were approaching 50%!
Getting a Provincial time is the first step and 85% will stay at this level
the next step is to score and thats a huge step as only about 15% actually
fall into this category. Maybe the time for a Provincial B meet is
long overdue.

great breakthroughs surfaced in the wake of illness that swept through the top
group. We missed four of our top performers that meant close to 100 points or
more lost. NYAC still came 7th overall and the swimmers below really stepped up
to the plate. |

Chud Who could not be happy for this swimmer who is one of the hardest
working, team spirited athletes in NYAC? Injuries and a drought of two years made
her swims all the more special. The 200 Fly was a best time by almost 4 seconds
(2:24:25) and she now stands on the threshold of a Senior National time! Well
split finally and very well done!

Karpov was one of two boys in the 16-17 category that came through with some
great swims. Silver medal in the 100 back with a 56.40, and then going 56.02 in
a relay lead off, was only surpassed by his swim in the 200 back. Failing to make
the final with a 2:08:46 in the morning he was man enough to win the consol in
an amazing 2:01:77. This would have placed him second in the final. His 56.02
for the 100 Back earned him a new NYAC record, impoving the 1984 record by Sandy
Goss by 0.37 seconds. | Nick

Moy top 8 in the 100 fly was a best time of 1:05:79 in the 14year old
final. This swim is under two seconds off of a senior national time and positions
her for an exciting LC season! | Nathalin

Peirce - another swimmer with a two year drought waits to the 11th hour to
stun her teammates with a national time in the 100 fly - 1:04:23. She is now on
her way to Olympic trials and all the pain and hardships melt away with a fantastic
effort wow! | Nicole

Tzvetanov - coming from Richmond Hill and eagerly wanting to swim with the
NYAC boys was his motivation for changing clubs I am very picky of who
I let in the top group and not known for having other swimmers drop in. Emil is
not only a great prospect but a well mannered, bright and eager to learn young
man. Swimming 100% best times and standing on the threshold of national times
makes the time very well spent. 200 Fly (2:10:97) best time by almost 8 seconds
100 Free (54:28) 2 seconds 100 Fly (57:80) 2 seconds and 200 Free
(1:54:83) 4 seconds! | Emil

Williams - ever consistent with best times in almost all but one of her events
she is our best performing female athlete. Right in the middle of trying to get
ready for trials she is still able to swim fast and race tired ! 100 Fly 1:03:34
