NYAC
Performance Update
November 2006
The Harvest
meet was a great oportunity to put into practice our three main
objectives for this time of year.
Technique
- emphasized were NCAA turns, high elbow catches on all strokes,
dolphin kicks off walls.
Rhythm
- stroke modifications that made swimmers appear smoother and
less jerky in their individual styles. Additionally, we wanted
no stroke breakdown at the end of races.
Power
- I wanted proper splitting (ie, under 2 seconds in the 100 Free)
in all the events with emphasis on stroke rates - For example
we are looking at 40 rpms on average for 200 events
no scrambling and strong legs at the end.
The 200 events should reflect consistency in the last 3 50 splits.
