NYAC President's Message

April 2006

NYAC swimmers are now training hard for the long course season.

Congratulations to our swimmers who competed at Team Champs! All the hard training (sets of 12 x 400 IM anyone?) has paid off. Third place in Division 1! Go NYAC!!!

The officials sign up is underway for NYAC's May Performance Meet on May 13th and 14th. If you have not yet submitted your preferences to your pool reps, please remember the choices are first come first serve. The working commitment is three sessions per family of swimmers participating in the meet. The meet is already fully subscribed and Meet Manager Tina Gaisin and Referee John Chittley (both kindly volunteering from Swim Ontario) are working very diligently with their team (that includes you!) to prepare for a successful event!

Shortly, you should receive a package from NYAC for our Annual General Meeting. The AGM will take place on Tuesday, May 30 at 7:30 pm. at the NYAC office located in the Bannockburn School. The current Board of Directors will report on highlights of the past season including a budget report and Head Coach Murray will unfold the program for the 2006-7 swim season. The AGM is also the time when your 2006-7 Board of Directors will be elected. Please look for the nomination forms in your AGM package and plan to attend!

Our end of year Red, Black and White Fun Meet will take place on Saturday morning, May 27, followed by a breakfast for the swimmers provided by the Junior and National groups. The whole club is encouraged to attend including the groups who do not practice regularly on Saturday mornings. This day will be a celebration of the year and will include some exciting mixed relays. It is a great opportunity for our young swimmers to swim along side our senior swimmers and for everyone to socialize on deck as a whole team. It is also an opportunity for swimmers to get to know all of the NYAC coaches. Parents are encouraged to come out and observe the fun, AND, for those parents who are brave enough, you may even get a chance to swim in a relay!

Finally, please remember that any questions you have regarding swimming and/or NYAC can be addressed to your child's coach, Murray, Olga, your pool rep, or a member of the NYAC Board. If you are uncertain about where to direct your questions, please email me at cmarjie@rogers.com and I will gladly help.

See you on deck at the May Performance Meet!
