President's Message

January / February 2008

Marjie Chud
NYAC President

It is officially the year of NYAC's 50th Anniversary. Fifty years ago, our club began as a small entity in the small suburb of North York. Today, we boast over 275 members in our various programs from Waves and Competitive to Triathlon in the ever growing metropolis of North York. NYAC continues to provide swim programs that meet the needs of the community under the leadership of Head Coach Murray Drudge supported by his outstanding staff, Board of Directors, and membership. Congratulations NYAC!

Once again, congratulations to all of our members for their part in making the NYAC Youth Cup and Mega City meets such a success. The next big events, aside from the several swim meets ahead, are training sessions for some during March Break including the Training Camp in the Barbados, a competition in Pittsburgh and local training sessions.

Swim-a-thon will take place on April 26th this year. We are looking for volunteers to help organize this event. Coordinating Swim-a-thon is pretty straightforward and would provide an opportunity to get involved with club events. It would be wonderful to see new parents participate in this way. Please contact Cheryl Kicksee at jkicksee@sympatico.ca or me at cmarjie@rogers.com if you have any questions or are interested in helping out!

As we head into Short Course "Championship Season", I would like to wish every swimmer the best of luck at whatever level they are competing. I hope that the many hours you all spend training pays off in rewarding ways whether it is improving a stroke technique, racing a smart race, achieving a best time, or swimming a top 8 or medal swim.

GO NYAC!!!

Marjie
