| The
2006-7 swim season is winding down for some NYAC swimmers at the same time as
the biggest competitions of the season are approaching for others. Congratulations
to those who have excelled to this point and good luck to everyone who will compete
in the Provincials, Age Group Nationals and Senior Nationals. Next
year is the 50th Anniversary of the North York Aquatic Club! The year will encompass
several activities related to this exciting time in NYAC's history culminating
in a gala event in June 2008. The 2007-8 Board of Directors has met and is already
beginning plans for the next swim year. There is a vacancy on the Board as advertised
on the website. Murray and his staff are in the process of speaking with the swimmers
regarding group placements for next year. The program is already posted on the
website and the schedule and coach placements will follow shortly. Registration
packages will be in the mail by the middle of July. Member statements will follow
shortly afterwards. Please remember to mail in your deposits for next year in
order to reserve your child's spot in their group. The 2007-8 calendar of events
will be posted this summer so please keep checking the website for updated information.
The final NYAC
hosted meet of this season is the 18th Annual Mayor's Cup. We look forward to
a full house. Thanks in advance to all of our parent volunteers and the meet planning
team. Thank you to Hung Fui Lui, Christine Henderson and Alice Ho for arranging
the club wide Bowling Social on June 30th. I hope to see many NYAC swimmers and
their families at this fun event. This
swim year ends on a positive note. NYAC has just had the most successful year
in recent club history - in the pool, financially and with membership growth!
Thank you to our membership for their continued support of NYAC hosted meets,
fundraising events and social activities. It takes fabulous coaches, devoted parents
and, of course, our dedicated athletes to make our club stand out! The
NYAC office will be open for most of the summer and Olga will be available to
answer your questions. Please feel free to contact me, ideally by
email. Once again, congratulations to all NYAC swimmers and best of luck to
those still in competition. Have a wonderful and relaxing summer and see you all
in the fall! Marjie
