Swimming
is well under way and so too are the various other activities at NYAC. Our Welcome
Back BBQ saw the biggest turn-out ever! The Pool Reps have met to discuss the
activities of the year. Our regular fundraising reward programs are underway (Loblaw's
and Shop and Support). Macmillan's order forms have been distributed (don't forget
the Nov. 3rd deadline). Team equipment has been ordered and some delivered; t-shirts
and caps are on their way shortly! The first two meets of the season have come
and gone. All this and only one month into the season! Still,
there is a lot to look forward to. Saturday morning, October 20th, NYAC
will host two in-house clinics: Timer's and Judge of Stroke and Turns.
Please plan on attending one of the two if you are not yet qualified. Contact
your pool reps or Yvonne Moy at nyacofficials@yahoo.ca
if you haven't registered. The following Saturday, October 27th, is our
time trial when all of the newly qualified timer's and judges will have
the opportunity to practise their skills. Plan on attending as this may be your
only chance to practise before the Youth Cup and Mega City Meets. Speaking of
which, we are still looking for someone (or two) to co-ordinate the cafeteria
for these meets. There are several people willing to help you out! Please contact
Natalie Lychy at natalielychy@rogers.com
if you are interested. The
NYAC Awards Banquet is coming soon! Don't forget to mark your calendars
for Friday, November 16th. The event runs from 6-10 pm at the Toronto Botanical
Garden at 777 Lawrence Ave. E. Every swimmer has a ticket as part of their registration
and our wonderful coaches are giving everyone the night off of practice so we
will see you all there! Parents and siblings are invited to purchase tickets on
a first come first served basis. Your pool reps will have more information shortly.
The NYAC yearbook and video will be back. Hilary Turnock is still looking
for video footage from last year. Please contact her at hilary@coresol.on.ca
if you have any you would like to share. Hung Fui Lui is also seeking donations
for the raffle. Please contact him at hungfui.lui@gmail.com
with your prizes. It
has come to our attention that there are at least two swimmers in the club who
have serious peanut allergies. As a courtesy to these children, we ask
that you please be careful not to send peanut products with your children to be
consumed on deck at swim meets. Finally,
the NYAC Board of Directors would like to extend a warm welcome to its new members
Steve Lim and Natalie Lychy. Welcome aboard! Marjie
