As a member of Swim BC, the Delta Sungod Swim Club participates in, and periodically hosts, swim
meets. Meets require a large number of volunteer officials and parents of
competitive swimmers fill these positions.
Information about officials, levels of certification and various responsibilities is available
at the BC Swim Officials web page.

As each swimmer's participation in the sport increases in weekly practice time, level, and
frequency of competition, the parent's commitment and involvement also
increases.
Just as the swimmers follow a program for progressive improvement there is also a progression for
parents to develop their officiating abilities.

The board is elected at the Annual General Meeting. The Board members then appoint from amongst
themselves to the executive positions at the first meeting after the AGM. The
AGM generally occurs in late October or early November.
Board Meetings occur on the Third Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm. Agendas are posted prior to
the meeting and minutes are posted after the meetings. Members are welcome to
observe at Board meetings. Anyone interested should confirm with the
President prior to the meeting.
The Board is responsible for setting the annual budget and ensuring the club operates
accordingly. This includes establishing membership fees and managing expenses
to fit within club revenues. The budget is developed by the Treasurer,
President, and Head Coach and is presented to the Board for approval.
The Board interacts with SwimBC and with the Lower Mainland Region clubs to help us with a
variety of organizational items, running our meets, and making use of common
resources.
The swim program is determined by the head coach in consultation with the coaching staff, Board,
and other related persons of expertise. Distribution of resources like pool
time, the development fund and the excellence fund is determined by the Head
Coach, in consultation with the Board and ensuring consistency with our
Mission Statement.
This Board works with the Head Coach to maintain the Team Guide and the Policies and
Procedures manual.
The Fundraising Chairperson works with a committee of members formed from parents of swimmers
from each swim group. Each swim group is responsible for the organization of
specific activities, all of which are aimed at reducing the costs of swimming
to members.
The Head of Official coordinates officials training for parents along with the Member at Large
responsible for Officials Development. As well, the Head of Officials shares
responsibility for contacting parents for commitments prior to each meet in
which their swimmer is entered, and organizing officials for meets which
Delta hosts.
The Head Coach
assists and advises the board on all program related activities.
