Job Summary We are currently searching for a Full-time Assistant Coach to enhance our expanding club and collaborate with our dedicated coaching staff. The Milton Marlin Swim Team (MMST) is a not-for-profit organization that supports youth in Milton and the surrounding communities. This position involves leading assigned squad(s) and offers the opportunity to assist with the programming of our Senior groups. MMST is a swimming club that offers training and competitive opportunities to residents in Milton and the surrounding communities. MMST activities include pre-competitive stroke-development swim lessons ("Academy") as well as a holistic training curriculum for our athletes that engage in competition at the local, regional, national, and international levels. Our competitive swimmers train out of 3 local pools- Milton Sports Centre, Milton Leisure Centre, and Sherwood Community Centre and participate in a variety of complementary dry-land training programs, nutritional seminars, and sport psychology sessions. MMST is a rapidly growing team with 250 competitive swimmers and over 200 precompetitive members. Mission: To be a community leader in Milton by helping members lead healthier, active lives through the sport of swimming. We enable our athletes to strive for excellence and achieve their best results physically, mentally, and emotionally in a sport they can enjoy their entire lives. We inspire a team culture where everyone encourages and takes pride in each other at all levels of competition. The chosen candidate will play a vital role in our program, reporting directly to the Head Coach. We are seeking someone energetic and enthusiastic, who demonstrates excellent communication and organizational abilities and collaborates effectively with parents, volunteers, and young participants. The Assistant Coach shall promote swimming and an interest in athletic development in the sport of competitive swimming for the purpose of physical and mental conditioning and that is consistent with the mission and goals of the organization. Reporting to: Head Coach Working Relationships: Assistant Coaches and Junior Coaches Parents/Guardians, Volunteers and Swimmers Other Clubs, Coaches and organizations as required Qualifications • National Coaching Certification Program or equivalent, Level 1 or above • Experience in coaching athletes at a regional level • Familiarity with PC computer applications • Experience in practice & yearly planning for competitive swim programs • Experience with Sports Engine an asset • Must be registered with SO, SNC, and CSCA annually o Fulfill all requirements of registration such as Safe Sport Training • Complete AODA online training Prime Functions to be Performed by the Assistant Coach Act as Assistant Coach of the Team • Develop, implement and supervise a competitive training program that reflects the ideals of Long Term Athlete Development and is consistent with the mission and goals of the Milton Marlin Swim Team (Team) and enables MMST members the opportunity to attain their competitive potential • Track, record and analyze the performance of individual swimmers, including attendance, in assigned group(s) for reporting purposes • Recommend swimmer move ups/ roster changes to Head Coach • Be responsible for assigned group(s) entries for meets throughout the season • Attend swim meets as required and assigned by the Head Coach • Meet with the Head Coach semi-annually, at minimum, to discuss performance as Assistant Coach • Meet regularly with individual competitive swimmers and/or parents or guardians to determine the goals of the competitive swimmer and discuss the swimmer’s progress towards those goals • Manage and deliver assigned group(s) communications as necessary • Attend Team functions and group activities when appropriate and available, including, but not limited to, specific fundraising events for the Team, Annual Awards ceremony, and other events deemed necessary by the Board • Pursue personal and professional development through training, as appropriate and agreed upon with the Head Coach • Perform other duties as identified by the Head Coach Salary ranges from $55,000 to $75,000, based on qualifications and experience. MMST provides a Childcare Subsidy for coaches with young children and a Health Spending Account.
