VANCOUVER – A talented group of 40 young Canadian swimmers will have the opportunity to race in their home pool this summer as Swimming Canada announced its team for the 2026 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, set for August 17-20 at the UBC Aquatic Centre in Vancouver.

The team, made up of athletes born between 2008 and 2013, will represent Canada at the 11th edition of the international junior competition and the first ever time the event has been hosted in Canada.

More than 300 swimmers from 16 countries are expected to swim into Vancouver for four days of racing, giving Canada’s next generation of athletes the opportunity to compete against some of the world’s best junior swimmers in front of a home crowd.

For many members of the Canadian team, the championships will also mark one of their first opportunities to wear the maple leaf in international competition.

“To be able to host the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Canada is incredibly exciting for our athletes and the development of our program,” said Ken McKinnon, Swimming Canada’s National Development Coach, High Performance.

“For many of these young swimmers, this will be one of their first experiences representing Canada, being part of a national team environment and competing in a meet at this level which is an important step in their development pathway. These athletes have ambitions of one day representing Canada at the senior level. Competing against some of the top junior swimmers in the world will provide them valuable exposure to international racing and the expectations that come with representing their country.”

The Junior Pan Pacific Championships have served as an important international development opportunity for emerging swimmers since the inaugural edition was held in Maui, Hawaii, in 2005. Subsequent championships have taken place at in Hawaii, as well as Guam, Fiji and Canberra, Australia.
