SAULT SURGE AQUATIC TEAM
The SAULT SURGE AQUATIC TEAM (SSAT), based in beautiful Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (population 75,000) announces an exciting opportunity for a motivated, energetic and enthusiastic candidate to join our team as a full time Head Coach beginning in the fall of 2018. The club has approximately 95 members from beginner to national level. Swimmers train at the John Rhodes pool, an excellent 8 lane 25m facility with electronic timing and a 2 lane shallow teaching pool. Our club is run by a board of enthusiastic parents and volunteers who over the last 3 seasons have worked hard to increase enrolment in the club.
* Develop, plan and implement schedules, conduct practices, attend swim meets and team building activities.
*Plan and provide coaching for practices (approx. 9 sessions 1.5hrs-2hrs in duration/ 1hr sessions for junior groups). The club retains paid and volunteer coaches.
*Perform administrative duties such as tracking attendance, meet entries, maintaining club records, recording and tracking swimmers progress on team unify/Hy-tek.
*Promote and grow the club by assisting in recruiting and retaining swimmers.
*Mentor and grow a b coaching team.
*Attend swim meets where our swimmers are competing.
*Assist in media/corporate relations.
*Participate at club events such as fundraisers, swim-a-thon and community events.
*Report to club executive.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
*All applicants must be certified at NCCP level 2 or higher with prior experience as a coach and/or competitive swimmer.
*Experience with a high level program and/or with a high level mentor coach would be an asset.
*Current member in good standing of the Coaches Association of Canada (CAC) & CSCTA.
*Excellent organizational skills, knowledge of Hy-tek/ Team Manager computer software.
*Ability to deal with children and youth in an encouraging and positive manner.
*Ability to lead/mentor the coaching staff.
*Strong commitment to and understanding of long term athlete development.
*Clear criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.
*Valid Drivers license for personal transport to and from swim meets.
*Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
